How to Delete a Domain

Introduction

For publishers using Truvid, deleting a domain may sometimes be necessary. This could be due to various reasons like low traffic, content that's no longer relevant or timely, poor revenue generation, performance issues, or simply to declutter the console during A/B testing. Deleting a domain stops all widgets from loading on it, but remember, the domain still needs to be removed from the website itself.

Reasons to Delete a Domain

  • Low Traffic: Domains with minimal traffic might not contribute meaningfully to your goals.

  • Revenue Concerns: If a domain isn't generating expected revenue, it might be prudent to delete it.

  • Performance Issues: Domains with consistently low performance metrics might need reconsideration.

  • Relevance: Outdated or irrelevant content on a domain can be a valid reason for its removal.

  • Technical Bugs: If a domain consistently experiences technical issues, deletion might be a solution.

  • Console Management: Keeping the Truvid console tidy and manageable by removing unused domains.

  • A/B Testing: In testing scenarios, the less effective domain might be deleted post-analysis.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Inventory Tab: Start by clicking on the "Inventory" tab located in the navigation panel on the left side of the Truvid interface.

  2. Access 'My Domains': In the menu at the top left of the page, select 'My Domains' from this menu. This is where you can manage all your domain-related settings.

  3. Delete a Domain: Locate the domain you wish to delete. On the right side of this domain, you will find a delete symbol (usually a trash can icon). Click on this to initiate the deletion process.

  4. Confirm Deletion: A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the deletion. In this pop-up, you'll need to type 'delete' to verify your intention.

  5. Final Confirmation: Click on the 'Delete' button to complete the process. Once done, you should see a notification indicating that the domain has been successfully deleted.

Note

For effective ads.txt page management, it is recommended to delete the relevant Truvid ads.txt lines from your ads.txt page once a domain is removed.

Conclusion

For Truvid users, deleting a domain might be required due to factors like low traffic, outdated content, insufficient revenue, or performance challenges. This process halts all widget activities on that domain.
